Chocolate curd from the oven
Baking is one of my favorite things to do and this oven baked chocolate curd is actually one of my favorites. The recipe is pretty simple and offers a nice variation on the typical chocolate. And the best part is that you can play with the ingredients to customize the chocolate to your personal preferences.
Ingredients
- 400 g Chocolate (milk, dark or white - depending on your preference)
- A selection of toppings such as nuts, dried fruit or marshmallows

Directions
To make chocolate curd from the oven, start by preheating the oven to 180°C. I have found that it is best to preheat the oven at least 10 minutes before baking so that it reaches the right temperature.
While the oven is preheating, chop the chocolate into small pieces. Depending on the type of chocolate you are using, this can be easier or more difficult. With milk chocolate, for example, it is often enough to simply break it up.
Line a baking tray with baking paper. Spread the chopped chocolate evenly over the tray. It is important that you do not pile up the chocolate, otherwise it will not melt properly.
Place the baking tray in the preheated oven and bake the chocolate for about 10-12 minutes. Keep an eye on the chocolate to make sure it doesn't burn. It should be just melted enough to spread easily with a spoon.
Remove the baking tray from the oven and sprinkle your chosen toppings evenly over the melted chocolate. Press them into the chocolate a little so that they adhere well.
Leave the broken chocolate to cool completely. You can also put it in the fridge to speed up the process. Once the chocolate has hardened, you can break it into pieces and enjoy. Chocolate in cellophane wrap makes a lovely gift for Christmas.
