Ingredients
- 1 bottle red wine
- 1⁄4 Cup honey or maple syrup
- 1 orange, sliced
- 10 whole cloves
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 1 star anise
- 1⁄4 Cup brandy (optional)
- Orange zest, for garnish (optional)

In a large saucepan, combine the red wine, honey (or maple syrup), orange, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and star anise.
Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Do not boil.

If desired, add the brandy and heat for another 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to boil the mixture.
Remove the saucepan from heat. Remove the spices and orange slices.
