Directions
Start by carefully washing the asparagus and then trim the tough ends. Based on my experience, this is crucial as the tough ends can ruin the overall texture of the dish.
Heat up a large skillet and add the olive oil. Always ensure that you use a pan large enough to accommodate the asparagus without overcrowding, for even cooking.
Add the minced garlic to the heated oil. Allow it to sauté for about a minute until it's fragrant but be careful not to burn it as this will leave a bitter taste.
Immediately add the asparagus, salt, and pepper. Cook on medium heat for about 10 minutes, making sure to stir frequently for even cooking. As someone who's cooked this numerous times, I recommend not overcooking the asparagus to maintain its crispness.
Optional: Garnish with some lemon zest right before serving. This addition is based on personal preference, and I find it adds a zesty freshness to the dish.
