Easy Homemade Coulis Dessert Sauce
Coulis is a versatile sauce that adds a burst of flavor and a vibrant touch to various dishes. Made with fresh fruits or vegetables, it can be sweet or savory, depending on the desired application. This recipe will guide you through making a basic coulis that be used in desserts, as a drizzle over meats or vegetables, or as a topping for pancakes or waffles.
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh or frozen fruit/vegetables (such as berries, tomatoes or mangoes)
- 1⁄4 Cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Water (optional, if needed for thinning consistency)

Wash and prepare your chosen fruit or vegetables.
In a blender or food processor, combine the fruit/vegetables, sugar, and lemon juice. Blend till smooth.
Taste the coulis and add more sugar if desired. If the texture is too thick, gradually add small amounts of water while blending until you achieve the desired consistency.
Once coulis reaches desired texture, transfer it to a sieve or fine mesh strainer placed over a bowl. Using the back of a spoon, press the mixture through the sieve, removing any solids or seeds.
Discard solids left in the strainer and transfer the coulis to a jar or airtight container.
Store coulis until ready to use. It can be stored for up to one week.
