Directions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans, or line them with parchment paper for easy removal.
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until well combined.
Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix on medium speed using an electric mixer or vigorously whisk by hand until the batter iswell combined.
Reduce the mixer speed to low, and slowly pour in the boiling water. Mix until the water is fully incorporated. The batter will be thin, but that's normal.
Divide batter equally between the prepared pans. Smooth out the tops with the back of a spoon or spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer the cakes onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Once cooled, you can frost the cakes with your favorite icing or serve them plain. Dust with powdered sugar or decorate as desired.
Enjoy your homemade chocolate cake!
