Homemade Healthy Fresh Basil Pesto Pizza
Homemade Pesto Pizza is an amazing combination of flavors, with fresh homemade basil pesto, mozzarella cheese, and fresh tomatoes. It is Italian cuisine at its best, filled with herbal fresh flavors. It's perfect for dinner, a game night, or for a party.
Ingredients
- 1 pizza dough
- 1⁄2 Cup fresh basil pesto
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
- 1⁄4 Cup parmesan
- Cornmeal, for dusting
- 1⁄4 Cup fresh basil leaves (optional)
- extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling

Directions
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.
Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to a 12-inch diameter. If using a pizza stone, transfer the rolled out dough onto a pizza peel or an inverted baking sheet dusted with cornmeal.
Spread the pesto evenly over the dough leaving a border for the crust. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the pesto. Arrange tomato slices over the cheese.
Carefully transfer the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone, or if you don't have a pizza stone, transfer the pizza to a pizza pan or baking sheet.
Bake for about 12-15 minutes until the crust is browned and the cheese is bubbling and starting to brown.
Remove from the oven and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes. Add fresh basil leaves if desired. Drizzle with a little olive oil before serving.
