Directions
In a microwave-safe mug or bowl, melt the butter in the microwave. The butter should be melted but should not be hot.
Add the white and brown sugars, vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to the melted butter. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
Separate your egg and add the yolk only to the mug (you can discard the egg white or reserve for another recipe). Stir the mixture once more, ensuring everything is well combined.
Add the flour to your mixture, stirring well again.
Fold in your chocolate chips, setting a few aside to place on top if desired.
Position the cookie dough in the middle of the mug or bowl. If you want a traditional cookie shape, you can spread the dough out a bit.
Microwave the cookie for 40-60 seconds on high power. Begin with 40 seconds, then check the cookie. Continue to cook in 10-second bursts until the cookie is cooked to your liking. Do not cook past one minute, just like a regular cookie, this will continue cooking as it cools.
Allow the cookie to cool for a minute or two before enjoying.
