Directions
Crumble the yeast into a bowl, add a tablespoon of sugar and pour in the milk. Leave in a warm place to rise for about 10 minutes until it forms a foam.
Add the flour, remaining sugar, eggs, melted butter and a pinch of salt to the bowl with the yeast. Knead a thick dough and leave in a warm place to rise for 1-2 hours.
Mix honey with ground poppy seeds and vanilla sugar. Place in the microwave for 1 minute and stir thoroughly. This filling can be quite thick, but it will spread nicely in the baking.
Divide the dough into 4 parts. Roll out each part into a pancake and spread the filling evenly over it. Then cut the pancake into 8 triangles and roll each into a roll.
Place the crusts on a baking tray lined with baking paper and brush with beaten egg. Leave to rise for about 15 minutes.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 15-20 minutes until nicely golden.
Sprinkle the finished rolls with icing sugar.
