Simple decorative children's cookies
My children love these cookies. Not only are they delicious, but they are also festive and cute, which makes them perfect for children's birthday parties and other celebrations. They are made with simple ingredients and are quick to prepare. I have made them countless times and the smiles on my children's faces when they see these cookies are priceless. The children can help with the baking and decorating.

Directions
To bake decorative children's cookies, mix the flour, sugar and salt in a bowl. Here you need to stir really well to make sure all the ingredients are evenly distributed. I didn't do this in my first attempts and some cookies were sweeter than others.
Add the egg yolks, vanilla extract and cold butter. Knead everything quickly into a smooth dough. Experience has taught me that it is important to knead the dough quickly so that the butter does not melt and the dough becomes sticky.
Divide the dough into several parts (depending on the number of colors you want). Add a few drops of food coloring to each part and knead it in well. The children love to help with the kneading and see how the dough changes color.
Roll out the dough and cut out the cookies using cookie cutters. I found that a thickness of about 3 mm is perfect - they are not too thick, bake evenly and keep their shape.
Place the cut-out cookies on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake at 180°C for around 10-12 minutes until lightly browned. Check the cookies frequently to make sure they don't burn.
Leave the cookies to cool completely before serving. They taste best fresh, but can also be stored in an airtight tin for a few days. Finally, decorate the children's cookies with icing and sprinkles or chocolate drops as desired.
