Directions
Start cooking the spaghetti. Remember to add a tablespoon of salt to the boiling water to flavor the pasta and cook it according to package directions.
While the pasta is cooking, we can prepare the tomato sauce. Start by peeling and chopping the tomatoes. This step is essential, as it enhances the flavor of the tomato and gives it a homemade touch that you will not get with canned tomatoes.
In a large frying pan, brown the chopped garlic with a dash of olive oil. As soon as they begin to turn golden brown, it is time to add the tomatoes.
Cook the tomatoes over medium heat for about 15 minutes until they are well cooked. It is important to cook them long enough for the flavors to concentrate. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Add the chopped basil to the pan and mix well with the tomatoes. This herb is the perfect partner to the tomato and adds an unparalleled smell and flavor to the sauce.
Finally, drain the pasta well and mix it with the sauce. Remember, a good practice is to save some of the pasta water in case the sauce is too thick, you can add it little by little.
Serve the spaghetti with tomatoes sprinkled with grated Parmesan cheese if desired. You can add a sprig of fresh basil to garnish and enhance the aroma when serving, enjoy!
