Directions
Gather all of your ingredients needed for the sauce.
In a saucepan, combine ¾ cup of sugar, ⅓ cup of vinegar, ⅔ cup of water, ¼ cup of soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon of ketchup.
Set the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar has fully dissolved.
Take your 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, dissolve it in a small amount of cold water, then pour it into the saucepan.
Stir the mixture continuously until it starts to thicken, then reduce the heat.
Let it simmer for about 5 additional minutes, or until it reaches your desired thickness. If it thickens too much, add a little bit of water and stir.
Let the sauce cool before using, or you can store it in the refrigerator for later use.
