Cream cheese sauce for ravioli - recipe
This is my favorite cheese and cream sauce that I have been making for years. It's a delicious sauce with a mild, delicious flavor, perfect not only for ravioli, but also with pasta, meat or as a dip for vegetables.
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon butter
- 1 onion
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 150 g Grated cheese (Cheddar or Gouda works well)
- 250 ml whipped cream
- salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 Teaspoon lemon juice

Directions
Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic.
Melt the butter in a pan over a medium heat. Control the temperature carefully, as the butter can burn if the temperature is too high, which can give the sauce an undesirable taste.
Add the chopped onions and garlic and fry in the pan until soft. Stir frequently to prevent them from sticking to the pan. Now add the cream and increase the heat slightly until the cream starts to boil. Then turn the heat down again - so that the cream does not boil down too much.
Then add the grated cheese and stir constantly until the cheese is completely melted. Season the sauce to taste with salt and pepper and add the lemon juice. The lemon juice will lighten the flavor of the sauce slightly. Allow the sauce to simmer for a few more minutes so that the flavors can combine. The cheese and cream sauce can be served immediately with hot ravioli.
