Directions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). While waiting for the oven to reach the required temperature, line a baking sheet with foil for easier clean-up later on.
Place the salmon fillets on the baking sheet, leaving space in between to ensure even cooking. Pat the salmon dry to guarantee a more flavorful crust. This is a tip I learned after several trials.
Drizzle each fillet with olive oil. Be generous as it gives the salmon a nice gloss and keeps it from drying out in the oven.
Season the fillets with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Don't shy away from seasoning; the salmon can handle it!
Afterwards, spread the minced garlic evenly over the fillets and squeeze fresh lemon juice over each piece. I've found that fresh is always better than bottled for this one.
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked to your desired level. Keep in mind that overcooking salmon can make it very dry, so it's better to err on the side of less cooking time.
Once done, remove from the oven and allow it to rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the fillet, finishing the cooking process and keeping the salmon moist.
Garnish with fresh dill and lemon slices before serving. This adds a refreshing twist to the meal and enhances the flavor.
