Directions
Start by heating the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Be sure not to let the oil smoke, or you will have a burnt flavor in your ham.
Add the ham steak to the hot oil in the skillet. Cook it until it’s browned on both sides, usually about 3 - 4 minutes each side based on my experience.
While the ham is cooking, it’s time to prepare the glaze. In a separate bowl, mix together the brown sugar, honey, orange juice, and Dijon mustard. Make sure they are well mixed to ensure a delightful blend of flavors.
Once your ham is browned, reduce the heat to low and pour the glaze over the ham. Let the glaze simmer, and frequently spoon it over the ham for about 5 - 7 minutes. This will help to infuse the flavors of the glaze into the ham.
When your ham is fully glazed, remove it from heat, and let it sit for about 3 minutes before slicing. This gives the meat time to rest and reabsorb its juices, resulting in a flavorful and juicy ham steak.
