Tasty Traditional Scottish Mince & Tatties
Mince & Tatties is an iconic Scottish dish, simplicity at its best, making it perfect for a cosy dinner at home. It consists of savory ground beef (mince) cooked with onions, vegetables and then served with boiled potatoes (tatties). Ingredients
- 500 g of Beef Mince
- 4 larger potatoes
- 2 Large onions, diced
- 3 carrots, sliced
- 1 Cup of peas
- 2 Beef Stock Cubes
- 2 tbls of Cooking oil
- salt and pepper to taste
- 11⁄2 l of water
- 2 tbls of Gravy granules
- Parsley for garnishment

Directions
Start by peeling the potatoes and cut into quarters. Place them in a large pot with enough water to cover, then put on the stove on high heat. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer and let it cook until they are soft and fully cooked.
Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and cook until they become translucent.
Add the mince to the pot with the onions and let it cook until it browns.
Add the sliced carrots, peas, beef stock cubes, and water to the pot. Stir occasionally and let it simmer for around 15 minutes.
Gradually add the gravy granules while continuously stirring, until the sauce thickens.
Season with salt and pepper according to your taste.
By now, your potatoes should be cooked. Drain the water and serve them alongside the mince.
Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
