In a bowl mix the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and salt. Whisk well and set aside.

2. Step

In another bowl mix the butter and the white sugar, until obtaining a creamy mixture.

3. Step

Add the egg and beat. Then, add the molasses and beat until well combined.

4. Step

Add the dry ingredients and mix until well combined. Then, add the hot water and mix.

Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and bake for 50 minutes in a preheated oven at 180°C.
