Tefteli Russian Meatballs
Tefteli is a traditional Russian dish made of minced meat that is easy to prepare and deliciously spicy. These meatballs are cooked in a tomato sauce and can be served with rice or mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
For the Tefteli
- 500 g ground beef
- 1 Piece onion, grated
- 2 Piece Garlic cloves, chopped
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 Egg egg
- 1 TL salt
- 1⁄2 TL pepper
For the sauce
- 1 Can Diced tomatoes (400g)
- 1 Piece onion, chopped
- 2 Piece Garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 TL salt

Directions
1. For the Tefteli recipe, mix the minced beef, grated onion, chopped garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Form them into meatballs of about 4 cm in diameter.
2. Fry the meatballs in a pan with some oil until browned all over. Remove them from the pan and set them aside.
3. For the sauce, sauté the chopped onion and garlic in the same pan until they are translucent. Then add the tomato pieces, sugar, and salt and let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes.
4. Return the meatballs to the sauce and let them simmer for 20 minutes until they are fully cooked.
5. Serve the tefteli with rice or mashed potatoes. Enjoy your meal!
