Directions

80 min.
1. Step

Start by rinsing the chicken drumsticks and pat them dry with a kitchen towel.

2. Step

In a mixing bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, salt, and brown sugar. This will be your dry rub.

3. Step

Rub the drumsticks with olive oil, then coat them evenly with the dry spice mixture. Let it sit for about an hour.

4. Step

Preheat your smoker to 225 degrees Fahrenheit (107 degrees Celsius). Add the hickory chips for extra smoky flavor.

5. Step

Place the drumsticks in the smoker and let them cook for about 1 hour. Make sure to turn them every 20 minutes for even cooking.

6. Step

Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer. The chicken is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius).

7. Step

Remove the drumsticks from the smoker and let them rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
